First I would like to explain the name of Nyxphotography. The website is named after the primordial greek goddess of night named Nyx. The night being a symbol of things hidden or unseen.
Life continues through the constant cycle of being broken down, reshaped and then reformed. Like life, art is the process of destruction and re-creation, not only of the physical, but also of concepts and philosophies. Art is more than the sum of it's processes and elements, it contains the artists and observers interpretations based on their life experiences. A single piece of art has as many meanings as it has observers.
To find and present images that represent not only the macrocosm of our body and environment but also the microcosms contained within them and their mutual reflections.
To use the combinations of space, time, motion, light and shadow to open the doors of perception to reality beyond what is detectable by human senses and illuminate the sacred in our daily lives.
To endow a physical embodiment to thoughts, emotions, mythologies, philosophies and spiritualities that reside within the world, and direct them at the observer.
The creation of art by maximizing the creative process while minimizing the destructive aspects.
To create pictures with minimal editing. The majority of editing performed is only basic lighting, contrast control, converting to Black and White or normalizing to the original negative/slide. Any picture edited or effect added beyond that will be noted.
